Volunteers are vital to the work of United Way Ottawa - from office support to governance work, all volunteer time and effort helps us to make a measurable impact in our community. Volunteering is a great way to get involved and give back while meeting new people, and learning and developing new skills.
Volunteer Opportunities with United Way
Volunteer opportunities range in time commitment and level of skills and experience required.
Short-Term and Events Support - Current volunteer opportunities
- One-time or periodic volunteer activities
- Short-term office tasks such as stuffing envelopes or making phone calls
- Event support such as setup, registration and tear down
Operations and Program Support - Current volunteer opportunities
- Regular or ongoing volunteer roles (for example: twice a week for 6 months)
- Office administrative tasks such as responding to general inquiries, data-entry and other projects
Working Group and Subject Matter Expert - Current volunteer opportunities
- Long-term volunteer roles (for example: bi-weekly meetings for a one year term)
- Working group and subject matter expert volunteers help to move specific projects forward

- Long-term volunteer roles (typically a minimum of one or two year term)
- Board of Directors, standing committees and other committees that support strategic planning for the future
- These roles are typically filled either through a nominations or targeted recruitment process
